What is TSK9U's K9 Rehab Center and Boarding Facility?

TSK9U recognizes a growing need for a change in the way we train dogs.  For years, people have tried to train dogs with human psychology or obedience commands.  People, for the first time in this area, now have somewhere to turn, other than turning your K9 into an "outside only dog", surrendering them to shelters, or even euthanizing.  We accept all breeds, sizes, and yes, even all behaviors...wanted and unwanted, minor to major.  Fear, anxiety, aggression, nervous energy, and confusion are some of the most common problems our dogs face today.  These are usually the result of lack of exercise, discipline, pack leadership, and/or understanding of how dogs learn, think, and live to survive.  We focus on dog psychology here at the K9 Rehab Center, not your typical obedience commands.   TSK9U understands that all dogs learn differently and have different needs.  We create a training method and activity just for your dogs way of learning and your lifestyle.

Where is TSK9U's K9 Rehab Center and Boarding Facility located?

This facility is located at 824 Old Sand Road,New Harmony, Indiana  47631 at the home of the owner of TSK9U.  We offer 5 secluded wooded and open acres for dogs to explore, run, jump, work, and play with other dogs and humans.  To keep everyone safe, we ask that you contact us to schedule an appointment.

What are the requirements for my dogs' visit ?

Vaccinations are highly important to us and your dogs health.  We require proof of Parvovirus, Distemper, Bordatella, Parainfluenza and Rabies.  We are unable to accept any females that are not spayed.  Proof of surgery may also requested.  All dogs will also need to be treated with flea and tick preventive.  Due to each K9 having or needing a different diet or health plan, owners are also required to supply food, any medications, and/or supplies needed for their dogs visit.  They will be living in and out of our home until the facility is complete.

What activities will my dog be participating in?

Once the center is complete, we will be offering Agility, Search and Rescue, Cart Pulling, Weight Pulling, Retrieving, Swimming, Jogging, Walking, Biking, ect...and of course the snuggle time and movie time with the pack in our home!   We encourage the dogs to participate in our daily lives of parenting, exercise, chores, and errands that daily life brings to all of us.  Most dogs will also be allowed to go on field trips to parks, lakes, and other adventures (weather permitting).  We have a "No dog left behind" policy.   They are all equal and need the same love and attention.

Will my dog remember what he's learned at the K9 Rehab Center?

Depending on each dogs' behaviors, the length of stay at the K9 Rehab Center will vary.  We ask that you allow us to work with your dog on a weekly basis.  One week to six weeks depending on the dog and their owners.  Owners are welcome to visit as often as they like to help work with and understand the dogs' program and excercise routine, but for some dogs this may be discouraged.  Once your dog has been rehabilitated, he/she will be returned to you and we will educate you and your family on what they have learned, thier exercise routine, and teach you how to understand his/her language.  The rest is up to the owners to maintain the discipline, exercise, and pack leadership that each dog deserves.

What if my dog does not need Rehab?

We DO also accept those dogs who are not struggling with "serious behaviors", but would like a place to stay with a dog and human pack while their owners are out of town.  They will still be involved in activities and exercise during their lenghth of stay.

How can you help?

TSK9U is also involved in helping our community.  We are helping local shelters and rescue groups with K9s that have serious behaviors that make them "unadoptable".  Most of these dogs will undergo a 6 week program.  We place them in our Rehabilitation Program to help them become adoptable and find that forever home.  Volunteers are needed for their care, daily exercise, and to take them to local pet stores for adoption days!  Donations!!!!    In order for us to take in homeless pets and to create their own seperate shelter,  Posey County Pound Puppies Rehab Center is in desperate need for 6' fencing and supplies, in addition to treadmills, backpacks, kennels, agility equipment, collars, leashes, flea and tick preventative, blankets, toys, dog food, and of course dollars will help too!  They are fencing in areas for them at the K9 Rehab Center that are to be divided for different exercise routines and play times.  Because we are a for profit business, we ask that you donate items or money to Posey County Pound Puppies, which is where the majority of our homeless dogs will be coming from.  We are donating our time and knowledge but we need your help with their stay and their cost of caring for them...we hope you can help!
